Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch review

Pride of place in Samsung's new wearables collection goes to the Galaxy Gear 2. It has the most features, and arguably looks best too. But has it got that X factor that makes you really want to wear it?
Chassis
It has a similar look to the original Gear which surfaced last year. But Mark 2 is a little smaller, slimmer, and comes with a faux leather plastic strap that helps it to look more like a proper digital watch than its predecessor -- though you can now change it for any standard watch strap. It's still on the chunky side for wristwear though, weighing in at 68g (5g lighter than the original). Like Samsung's other recent wearables, the Gear Fit and Gear 2 Neo, it comes with IP67 certification, which allows it to be immersed down to 1m in fresh water for up to half an hour. Full review

can Oppo and OnePlus upend the way we buy smartphones?

Chances are, the smartphone in your hand or pocket was designed by a company based in America, Korea, or maybe Taiwan. Most consumers have probably never even looked at or considered a smartphone from a Chinese company.

Companies like Huawei and ZTE have tried for years to break in to the high-end markets in the US and Europe without much success. Lenovo decided that it would just be easier to buy Motorola than make a go at the US alone. Meanwhile, upstart Xiaomi has garnered a lot of attention and press, but it has yet to bring its wares outside of Asia.

Oppo is a lesser-known name, but it claims to be the “second-most profitable mobile phone company” in China. Now Oppo and its recent offshoot OnePlus are taking a different approach to bringing that success out of China and conquering the West. Instead of partnering up with carriers and kowtowing to their demands, both companies are selling their latest phones, unlocked, directly to consumers. The $499 Oppo Find 7a and $299 OnePlus One offer competitive, high-end performance at prices significantly lower than other, better-known smartphones. Google has taken a similar approach with its Nexus line of smartphones, but those are designed primarily as vehicles for the latest version of Android. Oppo and OnePlus are just focused on selling a lot of phones across the globe.

With the Find 7a and One, the two companies should have no trouble doing just that. And they might just change the expectations we have of smartphones we purchase.

Review LEXUS 2014

If you’ve noticed there hasn’t been much to notice about the Lexus IS sedan for some time, you get an A in noticing. After debuting for the 2006 model year, the brand’s smallest rear-drive four-door went on something of a hiatus for eight seasons. (This is not including the IS F’s transcendent makeover for 2011.) Styling changes over that time were so minor that they qualified only as bar bets anywhere outside a convention of IS buffs. It’s now time, however, to reset the clock and pay attention. First shown at the 2013 Detroit auto show, there’s a brand-new IS, and we spent time shaking down the entire lineup in Austin, Texas. The Breakdown First things first: Lexus’s major rework of the IS does not include the engines. The 2.5- and 3.5-liter DOHC V-6s carry over, including output—no fancy, efficiency-baiting turbo four here, bub. That means the IS250 still has 204 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, and the IS350 packs 306 horsepower and 277 lb-ft. You can tick off boxes for rear- or all-wheel drive and regular or F Sport trim. Most iterations use the same six-speed automatic as in the outgoing cars, but Lexus decided that rear-wheel-drive IS350s deserved the eight-speed direct-shift automatic from the IS F. (No manual this time. Lexus told us it thought it might have sold one [!] last year.) The eight-speed incorporates “G-force Artificial Intelligence” when in Sport mode, which can automatically grab a gear and go to full torque-converter lockup depending on input from a g-force sensor. All IS350s and the IS250 F Sport use an engine-sound-enhancing intake-noise generator, if you’re into that sort of thing. All IS models have paddles for manual shifting, and their gearboxes will rev-match downshifts when in Sport mode. Sport is one of the three possibilities—Normal and Eco being the others—available via a center-console knob fitted to all examples. Rear-drive IS350 F Sports add a Sport+ level, and all-wheel-drive versions have a Snow setting. The subsystems varied with these modes are the usual, even as they vary depending on equipment and model ordered, meaning transmission shift mapping, an adaptive suspension, the electric power-steering effort, and the steering ratio. If all this sounds like a lot, it is, and even one Lexus official chuckled at the many permutations. Lexus uses the last IS’s front suspension design but adds a larger anti-roll bar, and it adapted the multilink setup from the excellent new GS at the back. The power steering is swiped from the GS, too, and the IS’s new platform is a scaled-down version of its bigger brother’s. Braking is handled by 11.7- and 11.5-inch discs on IS250 models, and by 13.2- and 12.2-inch discs on the IS350. The rotors live behind 17- or 18-inch wheels; the larger rollers come in staggered widths and pack the most visual sizzle, and they’re standard on all F Sports. Drive Time When Lexus said we’d be in Austin to drive the new IS, we assumed we’d sample the sedan at the Circuit of the Americas. Not so. We instead went to Austin Driveway, a technical, vest-pocket circuit with 110-mph straights (at least in the IS350 F Sport), tight corners, and a junior version of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s famed Corkscrew. Lexus brought a BMW 335i and a Mercedes-Benz C350—both with sport-suspension options—plus a last-gen IS350 F Sport for comparison. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if artists could earn real ncome doing what they love? Wouldn’t it be even better if that artist was you?

In the ‘olden days’ of the brick-and-mortar world the options for selling artwork were limited, expensive and very time consuming. To even hope for a chance at becoming a profitable artist you had to enter your artwork in juried art shows, submit portfolios to galleries and hope for acceptance, or convince local restaurants and shops to allow you to display and sell your art at their establishments, for a commission of course.

Did you know that most galleries want a 50% or better commission and require you to frame your work according to their requirements? Often the artist is also required to pay for the gallery advertising as well.

So given the cost of framing alone, how many paintings would you have to sell before you earn a profit?

The good news is that today, with the advantage of online marketing, there is an easier, cheaper, and better way to sell your artwork. Today you can do it all yourself without paying high commissions to someone else.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that there are millions of artists out there trying to do just that and the art market is saturated.

So what will it take for you to rise above the masses and successfully sell your artwork online?

It takes knowledge. You must learn and apply internet marketing skills to transform your dream into reality. It isn’t hard when you know what to do, but it does take perseverance and time.

If you are looking for a magic solution to instant success I can’t help you.

However, if you are willing to adopt some leading-edge internet marketing techniques then I do have some suggestions.

1. Set achievable goals.

2. Consider enrolling in an online internet marketing course.

3. Learn and implement current traffic generation techniques.

4. Use social networking/marketing sites to promote your websites and art sales.

5. Generate traffic and expand your online presence through Article Marketing.

6. Establish a blog site and post art-related content that would be valuable to artists and art lovers.

7. Set up an opt-in subscriber list and send out regular emails about your art or art-related subjects.

8. Offer free gifts to list subscribers such as a downloadable tutorial or ebook. Make sure that your gift is relevant to your particular niche.

9. Set Up link exchanges with other artists where you promote their work or products and they promote yours.

10. Be persistent. It takes time to establish and online business and there is a lot of competition out there.

There are plenty of information products and courses online that will teach you how to accomplish the above strategies. Find one that works for you.

Remember to stay focused; it’s easy to become overwhelmed with information overload. You can make money selling art online – you just need to learn current internet marketing strategies and implement them.

A Review By Someone Who Has Used : Automatic Backlink Creator

This Automatic Backlink Creator (ABC - neat huh!) is a paid plugin for your WordPress blog, and heck who needs to buy plugin when there are all those free ones out there. It better be good!

The best bit about it is that it will get you backlinks for ANY site you have - not just blogs.

[For a little bit of background, WordPress is the most popular free software for creating blogs, and plugins like Automatic Backlink Creator add extra functions.]

What does the Automatic Backlink Creator actually do?

Well it does what it says. It creates lots and lots of links back to your website, ie backlinks, which are vital because they are the 'popularity contest' on the internet.

As a rule of thumb, more backlinks means showing up higher in the search engine rankings, so more people find your site when they search, and click through to you.

You attract qualified visitors - and all for free. FREE traffic is exactly why I love SEO!

But you must get those backlinks, and creating them can be a real hassle.

What would help most is an autopilot, set-and-forget backlink generator...

The Automatic Back link Creator can get backlinks in two ways.

The first way is as a direct link from other blogs that have the Automatic Backlink Creator plugin.

Each blog displays a random set of up to 10 backlinks from the Automatic Backlink Creator network using a 'widget'. A bit like am instant blogroll, you show links from other people's site, and they show links from yours.

But your links can point to ANY site you have. Heck they can even be affiliate links, whatever you want.

You get much more than just one link back because your links on other people's blogs are changed each time the page is refreshed. Each time a search engine looks at the page it sees new links to follow, and some of them will be yours.

Even better, you can specify the keyword you want to show for that link AND you can give the plugin multiple keywords and have it change them randomly (ie 'spin' keywords.) This is much better SEO than having to choose one keyword only for your link.

Hold on a moment.

This leaves one obvious problem - your links show-up, and then immediately disappear. Does this matter?

Well Greg the author of the Automatic Backlink Creator says that Google will still keep the value of the links for quite a while, so it will work, just not permanently. That's all fine, but when did anyone running a scam tell you anything otherwise, so I did my own testing as you will see below.

But before we get to this the Automatic Backlink Creator also claims to create longer lasting back links.

This is the second way it creates backlinks - with its own article publishing service.

Once again, there is a swap arrangement. You publish articles from the plugin network on your blog, and in return you are allowed to publish articles on other sites that use the plugin. In these articles you will of course have links pointing back to whatever you want.

The search engines then find those backlinks and reward you again.

This part might be slower at building backlinks, BUT your links will last much better.

In effect this backlink plugin is giving you a two-punch solution. You get lots of temporary links fast, and then come the lasting links later on.

Very neat eh?
